With great excitement, we are thrilled to share that the maple tree plantation at Sunny Meadow Farm is now active.
Posts and sap lines are being installed this weekend so that, as soon as the sap starts to run, it can be collected and processed into maple syrup by Cooking Buckets Sugar House.
Ten years ago, Town Meeting voted to approve an extended ten-year lease to allow this experimental and educational project to move forward. That lease period is now coming up for renewal, making this season an especially meaningful milestone.
Expect detailed reports and plenty of photos as the lines go in over the coming days. COSS will be on site helping out, because sometimes preserving our local farming traditions means bundling up, heading outside, and lending a hand.
