While reviewing maps as I started to think about putting together a walk to all the water control points at the bog, I came across this spot again. It reminded me of something I had been meaning to take a closer look at, but like numerous things, it kept getting pushed aside.
There are a few areas back there that are very difficult to access, and every time I look at the maps, I find myself wondering if this might be a vernal pool. It is not connected to the main water system and sits in a dip in a higher section, which is what caught my attention. If there is a vernal pool at the bog, this would be the only real possibility.
I honestly do not know, so if anyone has knowledge of this area, I would really appreciate hearing from you.
I have never actually been into this section around the pool, so I guess it is time to change that. Furthermore, I am thinking of getting a small group together to head out there, take a closer look, and document what we find with photos.
As I plan out the walk to the different water control points, this may end up being one of the more interesting stops along the way.
Sometimes the only way to really understand a place is to get boots on the ground and see it for yourself.
