E-Recycle Day in Chelmsford
Today was another great E-Recycle Day, hosted by the Center School PTO and the McCarthy Middle School PTO. This is one of those events that really shows what community looks like in Chelmsford. The funds raised go right back into local PTO programs that support students and teachers, so every old TV, laptop, and toaster dropped off helps make a difference.
A few of us from COSS were there helping out, as we have for years. It is something we now help manage, and it has become second nature for our crew. It was great to see so many teens volunteering their time. There were students from the National Honor Society, Nashoba Tech, and Chelmsford High, all working hard and smiling the whole time.
The morning started off quiet and then picked up fast. Cars lined up with everything from small electronics to old exercise machines. It was busy but fun, and a lot of people stopped to say thanks for the work COSS does around town. I also managed to pick up a few items that will come in handy for the Community Tool Shed.
Events like this really show how much good can come when the schools, town, and community groups work together. Everyone benefits. The schools raise funds, residents get to recycle responsibly, and volunteers make new connections that lead to even more community projects.
All in all, it was a great day for Chelmsford, full of teamwork and good spirits. A big thank-you to the Center and McCarthy PTOs, the many student volunteers, and everyone who came out to support the event.
